Based in Duluth, Minnesota, Terrace Ledge Landscapes is an owner-operated landscaping and hardscape company founded by Braxton Hjelle. The name comes from Braxton’s Norwegian surname, Hjelle, which translates to “terrace ledge,” a natural feature often seen in beautiful, elevated landscapes. This connection to the land reflects our commitment to creating stunning, well-crafted outdoor spaces that blend seamlessly with nature.

We focus on landscape construction and hardscape projects. Our work often involves site preparation, grading, stonework, and structural elements that require careful planning and a strong understanding of the land. Many of the projects we take on are complex sites that need practical, durable solutions.

Northern terrain demands a different approach. Freeze and thaw cycles, water movement, and long-term stability are built into our planning from the start. We frequently work with locally sourced natural stone and materials chosen for how they perform over time, not just how they look on day one.
